Today, with host Melinda Pillsbury-Foster, we will talk about how you can have the kind of security you need for yourself and your family with Michael Clark, who had made a career of showing ordinary Americans this is within their grasp. We will then move on to the present violations of the Constitution and the rights of Californians, who voted for medical marijuana. Today pharmacies in Santa Barbara are being shut down by the Federal government. Our third guest is Dan Borchers, founder of Coulter Watch. Dan's new book on the Queen of Neoconism, delves into the cynical use of her supposed 'Christianity,' as a tool for the fascist state wielded to accumulate power and deceive.

This is our Mission and we pursue it relentlessly.

Hour One

Michael Clark will be with us to talk about how ordinary people can enjoy the security today only available to the wealthy. Clark calls it a short lesson in reality. We have all seen it happen to those around us. We are one lawsuit, one heart attack, or one car accident away from losing everything they own…
  • Medical debt…the result of a heart attack, stroke, cancer, monthly prescriptions, Alzheimer’s, etc…is the number one cause of bankruptcy and foreclosure…you have no control!
  • Litigation…lawsuits are the number two method of acquiring wealth. If you own assets, you are a target. The more successful you are, the bigger target you become…you have no control!
  • Identity theft…the fastest growing crime in the world. It can cost thousands of dollars, and hundreds of hours trying to prove your innocence…and many still end up losing everything they own and filing for bankruptcy…you have no control!
  • Other ways of instantly losing control of your life…a serious automobile accident, nursing home spend-down, personal or business bankruptcy, government-IRS lien or seizure, death/probate, and much, much more…YOU HAVE NO CONTROL!
Michael knows how to protect himself – and how you can get real protection.

Hour Two
Ethan Stewart is Senior News Reporter/Staff Writer for the Independent, the feisty local paper for Santa Barbara, California, founded in 1966. Ethan will give us an update on the ongoing war against local sovereignty, and medicinal marijuana in Santa Barbara where pharmacies are being raided by the Feds despite the legality of use mandated by the voters of California.

Today we have two guests.  Helen Garland experienced the trauma of PTSD through the experiences of her husband, Joe Garland, respected author of 29 books. The last book, Unknown Warriors his his own story chronicling his experiences in WWII.  Joe was, himself a victim of PTSD.  Our second guest is Susan Deak, CEO of the Wellness Center of Ashtabula, Ohio, who has made it her mission to make alternative therapies, providing healing, to people in her community.

                                                                                                               Tuesday June 12, 2012

Hours One & Two

Helen Garland

Unknown Soldiers is a book about surviving war, but returning from conflict, wounded in ways not visible to the eye. This has been the fate of soldiers for eons. Today, it is not just soldiers who are impacted. It is all of us, impacted by the war made on us by our own government.

Joe Garland, the author, wrote a book which told his own story, using it so we could understand what he faced during war and in its aftermath.

Woven into the narrative is also a love story told through letters written from the field. The woman about whom he wrote, the wife who was with him when he died, will be with us today to talk about the book, about Joe, and about the wounds which never healed.

This is a book about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Joe was very aware of how different he was after he returned. It never changed for him or for his friends. The fear and pain remained with them. Joe died late last year, having written 29 books, this the last and only book about his experiences.

On the website for the book, Wounded Warriors, you can hear the voices of Joe Garland and his friends, now gone, talking about experiences which stayed with them, reframing their lives in ways none of them imagined when they joined, moved by love of their country.

The paper in Gloucester, Massachusetts closed down to honor Joe when he died. He was the man who wrote history, making it immediate and real.

Below is an article which ran in the Gloucester this last Memorial Day.

MEMORIAL DAY 2012

From Helen Garland

Dorothy Nelson and the Writer's Center asked that I read from Joe Garland's book about his World War Two War - "Unknown Soldiers."

Reviewing Joe's book, three themes emerged.

The first on page XV of the introduction entitled "Up Front" reveals the burdens of Post Traumatic Stress, Guilt and the age old confusions of Fathers and  Sons.  Joe refers to his long held fear that his medically connected father had intervened to prevent Joe frombeing sent back into action after his hospitalization in Italy.

"Thus the letdown of my buddies back on the front, thus the "guilt," thus the book."

The second theme emerges throughout his book as he refers to my role as a war time pen pal and his letters to his parents.  That is,  the effect of any war on generations of family and
of visions of Love and Real Life as a balance against the fears and horrors of his war.

The third theme emerged when Martin Ray and his family visited soon after Joe's death in the hope of finding the right words to express why Joe's book exemplified both the nobility of service as well as the dangers.  We decided that if the purpose of any war is noble, then the manner in which the war is conducted must be equally noble, otherwise, the results include the destruction of whole generations.

Then hauntingly, a poem on page 6 brings all these themes home for Gloucester.  Joe quotes his father's stunning skill with the written word, taught him at his school on Dale Avenue opposite the Post Office at the turn of the century and in l915 at Harvard.  Dr. Garland was contemplating the carnage of World War I when he wrote:

"A sovereign speaks a word; princes command,
And war, black as the plague, spreads through the land

You are the pawn, moved by a mightier hand;
You are the Christian martyr, living brand
That lights the kingly orgy of that king
To whom YOU homage bring.
This is your lot, oh Common  Man; is it your choice?
When war takes all do YOU rejoice ----
Father and brother and livelihood,
Leaving all evil where was once all good?
Another commands your destiny.
Are you less fitted for that task than he?
Freedom and life are offered you; now choose,
Not overlong debate, nor yet refuse,
And when the stricken land raises its head,
May you, rising from burial of your dead,
Stand by your brother, teaching him to see ---
YOU the director of your destiny."

Finally Joe back again on page XV relates again to Gloucester  and the third theme of WAR itself.

The Gloucester Town meeting of December 15, 1773 voted as one "for freedom from a distant, contemptuous, arbitrary and rather stupid emperor across three thousand miles of ocean" saying:

"If we are compelled to make the last appeal to Heaven, we will defend our resolutions and liberties at the expense of all that is dear to us"

And so we must consider both the ends and the conduct of the means.”

PTSD has always been a cost of war. Today, we consider it as a means of controlling us.

It might have been Edward Bernays who noticed returning vets from World War I were far less able to confront authority than others who protested injustice, or this strategy could have occurred to one of his replacements after Vietnam.

Bernays wanted a complacent population and PTSD has become a means of obtaining this end.

The conditions of war, the emotional trauma and uncertainty, constant fear, have become endemic here, on our own shores through the war waged on us by government and corporations economically, socially, and through the constant attrition of fear. TSA, monitoring, police brutality, the loss of homes, jobs, the lack of medical care, and the hope of justice.

We must take action. Action begins with understanding. Helen Garland, Joe's wife, tells a story of survival which brings hope. Her story is touching, powerful, and needs to be read. Don't miss it.

Drones threaten both us and people around the world. Making war remote and impersonal puts it firmly in the hands of the corporations and must be stopped. With host Melinda Pillsbury-Foster explore the roots of the issues which made it possible for the corporations to install their own operating system in our courts, in the economy, in government, and in all other parts of our lives. Rebecca Potter will be with us on another important issue, this being how you, as an individual, can fight back in the court system and win. It is happening. Her story about a toll ticket which represented hundreds of dollars to the state of Florida as a tool of extortion, will show you what to do for yourself.

This is our Mission and we pursue it relentlessly.

Our first guest today is Andrew Kreig, journalist, attorney, and crusader for justice. We will be hearing an update on the case of Don Seigelman.
Karl Rove went after Don Seigelman, Governor of Alabama, pulling out all of the stops to destroy his career. The Seigelman case serves as an illustration of how Rovian dirty tricks are carried out. The story began in the early days of the W. Bush Administration while the heady effects of power created from the attack of 9/11 still held our country largely immobilized, growing ever more fearful. With host Melinda Pillsbury-Foster explore the roots of the issues which made it possible for the corporations to install their own operating system in our courts, in the economy, in government, and in all other parts of our lives.
Our second guest is Donna Amdersen, who will be telling us about her new book and digging into the tragic impact of psychopathy on our lives.
Our third guest is Robin Westmiller whose story serves as another chilling reminder on how our lives are being stolen in plain sight, by use of the government which we trusted to protect us.
Giving you the truth and the tools to resist is our Mission and we pursue it relentlessly.

Hour Two

Donna Andersen, author of the newly published, “Red Flags of Love Fraud,” will be joining us.  Andersen coined the term Love Fraud, and defines it as “the intentional exploitation of an individual through manipulating emotions in a personal relationship.” The people who engage in love fraud, she says, are sociopaths.
Experts estimate that 1 percent to 4 percent of the population are sociopaths. That means there are 3 million to 12 million of them in the United States. Most are not in jail.
Andersen learned about sociopaths the hard way - by marrying one. In two years, this man defrauded Andersen of $227,000, cheated with at least six women, fathered a child with one of them, and then, 10 days after Andersen left him, married the mother of the child. It was the second time he committed bigamy. Andersen's first book, Love Fraud, tells the whole outrageous story.
Because of her experience, Andersen launched Lovefraud.com to teach people how to recognize and recover from sociopaths.
RED FLAGS OF LOVE FRAUD explains:
* The top 10 signs of sociopathic suitors (Number One: charisma and charm)
* Why anyone is vulnerable - especially powerful women
* How sociopaths use love bombing to seduce their targets
* Why there's no such thing as 'just sex.'
* Three steps everyone can take to protect themselves from love fraud
Andersen bases her information on what happened to her and thousands of Lovefraud readers. Her website draws 50,000 unique visitors a month, and she has collected 3,000 cases. Andersen also conducted two Internet surveys, each with more than 1,300 respondents, to gather data about sociopathic relationships.
This book provides a clear explanation of social predators, how they seduce their targets, why it's so difficult to escape the relationships, and how people can avoid them in the first place. It is a must-read for anyone looking for a partner and anyone who is mystified by the partner they have.

Hour Three
Robin West will be with us today to discuss a frightening problem confronting Americans.
As the population ages the issues of the elderly become more widespread and crucial. Robin Cohen Westmiller has written a factual, detailed story of her family's struggle with guardianship abuse. She has courageously told the story of what she, her children and, most importantly, her parents suffered from a system not prepared to face the realities of  this theft and mistreatment.
Ruby and Regina Cohen worked hard all their lives taking care of their business, their daughter and their extended family of nieces and nephews. Retirement should have been a time of relaxing together to enjoy the security of family and financial stability. A small stroke changes all that. Ruby suffers a stroke that mildly seems to alter his thought process.  For many years he had spent a few weeks in Florida on vacation while Regina stayed home. His health seems to preclude another visit but calls from his niece convince him to go. Nothing his wife or daughter say can convince him that he is not in shape for the journey, not mentally or physically . In March 2004 he got a friend to drive him to the airport and flew to Florida. That was the last his wife would see him for close to 2 years.
What follows is an eye opening tale of the difficulties of fighting a system that is not set up to protect the well being of the elderly. Ms Westmiller's cousins were able to convince Ruby to file for divorce from his wife, refuse to see or speak with his daughter and granddaughters, attempt to empty his bank account and not return home. . As his health becomes worse and worse, Ruby is confined to nursing homes and hospitals. Even the court appointed guardian, the hope to change the situation, continues to drain his bank account, continues the divorce proceedings and let the cousins have a say in his life. Ms Westmiller must battle for her parents future in New York while her father is trapped in Florida from her home in California.
The inclusion of  copies of all of the documents that support Ms Westmiller's experiences are a well chosen addition. While she is able to tell her story with minimal emotional slants, it is the inclusion of the actual court records, comparisons of signatures attributed to her father and financial records that make this book so powerful.
It would be wonderful to be able to announce that the book has a perfect, happy ending. While Ms Westmiller is able to to rescue her father from the Florida relatives, guardians and court system, the toll, financially, emotionally and physically on her parents is monumental. In less than 2 years they lose everything they has worked for their entire lives- their house, their back accounts and, sadly, their chance to live together. This book is a personal attempt by the author to educate others to this danger and raise the awareness of this potential tragedy.

With host Melinda Pillsbury-Foster explore the roots of the issues which made it possible for the corporations to install their own operating system in our courts, in the economy, in government, and in all other parts of our lives.
Over the next weeks we will be hearing from experts on types of cons and frauds carried out on Americans.  Both activists and ordinary Americans have been defrauded over and over again and it is time action was taken to make essential information available so this does not continue.
Tuesday, May 22nd, I will have as a guest on my show Jeffrey Weston. Jeff is the author of “The German Financial Time Bomb A Betrayal of the American Public, A Fantastic Deception,
50 Years of Cover-Up and Now a Solution,” site located at germangoldbonds.com. He is regarded as one of the world's foremost experts on German Bonds, issued prior to World War II.
Mr. Weston has served as plaintiff on two precedent setting court cases that have served to confirm the value and validity of the bonds that Germany defaulted on over 80 years ago. With over 26 years experience in the securities business, Mr. Weston has served as adviser to foreign governments, municipalities and numerous public and private companies.
Jeff will be with us for the entire three hours of the show so you can ask questions on this very controversial subject. Questions can be sent in advance to us at themelinda@rumormillnews.com.
As you know, these gold bearer bonds have been used by con-artists for decades, fleecing people of millions of dollars. The German Bearer Bonds are one type of these instruments but over the coming weeks we will be covering more of these specific cases so you can be informed and warned.

This is our Mission and we pursue it relentlessly.
